September Neighborhood Meeting

We’ll be getting together again for our next neighborhood meeting on Saturday, September 7 at 11:00am. The meeting will take place in the community room of Tompkins Community Action at 701 Spencer Road, the Buttermilk Falls (south) end of our street. As a reminder, the entrance is in the rear of the building, near the walking trail to Buttermilk Falls State Park.

Here is the planned agenda for our meeting. If there is anything you’d like to add to the agenda, please attend the meeting to share.

As always, we’ll have coffee and some snacks, and some open time for neighbors to share what’s going on.

Road Signage Information Gathering

After our June meeting, we shared this Road Signage Info Gathering form in order to collect suggestions from neighborhood residents about their suggestions for road signs needed along Spencer Road. If you have any suggestions for signage, please complete the form. We will compile responses during this meeting and prepare a request to the city.

Summer Neighborhood Picnic moved to 503 Spencer Road

Update (8/18 at 10:00): Unfortunately it looks like the rain isn’t going to stay away long enough to make Buttermilk Falls a viable option for us, so we are taking up Rain and Bill Deets’ generous offer and are moving the summer picnic location to 503 Spencer Road. See you there at 11:30!

Update (8/17 at 11:00): Due to the rain starting currently, and the likely event of heavier rains to come, we are postponing our neighborhood picnic. For now, we’re going to use our rain date of tomorrow, Sunday, August 18 at 11:30. We’re going to keep an eye on the forecast through today and tomorrow morning, and if rain threatens tomorrow as well, we will likely need to cancel the picnic entirely.

Spencer Road Neighborhood Association Picnic. Aug 17 at 11:10am at lower Buttermilk Falls State Park.

Come celebrate the summer and meet your neighbors at the Spencer Road Neighborhood Picnic at on Saturday, August 17 at 11:30am at Lower Buttermilk Falls State Park. Please bring your favorite picnic foods to share — as well as your own plates and cutlery, if you can! — and come relax and chat in the park. The park’s hiking trails and swimming area will likely be open, so you can explore this local gem while you’re there!

Parking is available at Buttermilk Falls State Park for $9 per car for a full day. The park is also accessible via a short walking trail behind Tompkins Community Action at the south end of Spencer Road.

Looking ahead…

Our next formal meeting will be on Saturday, September 7 at 11:00am at Tompkins Community Action on Spencer Rd. Among other business, we’ll be planning our fall neighborhood cleanup taking place on Saturday, October 5.
